Have you heard of The Secret or the Law of Attraction?

It’s the theory that your thoughts affect not only your actions but also how opportunities appear in your life. It is the basis of the book and movie, The Secret.

According to Wikipedia:

The law of attraction is a metaphysical belief or theory, that “like attracts like,” and that Human perception of what is positive and negative thinking bring about positive and negative perceived results.

Also according to Wikipedia, The Secret is largely influenced by Wallace Wattles’ 1910 book The Science of Getting Rich, which the author, Rhonda Byrne, received from her daughter during a time of personal trauma in 2004.

Since so much of what you can achieved is based on what you believe you can achieve, I thought this subject was worth looking at.

If you’ve been curious about this…

Here is the original 1910 book,

The Science of Getting Rich, by Wallace Wattles in both PDF and audio.

The audio verion is below.

(If you listen to the audio, skip the Preface and go right to Chapter 1. The Preface is very dry and boring.)

To go against Wallace Wattles’ “do not try to apply your will power to anything outside of yourself” and to stick with Ann Tucker’s “Playing by the Rules Didn’t Work, Create Your Own Income” [yes I do read what you send me, Ann], I’d like to try and influence one of your readers.

I have the world’s best gout site, and readers have suggested I should publish a book. It’s tempting, but seems too much like work for me. If anyone wants to put my best stuff in ebook form, I’ll help collate and proofread it, and promote it to to a few thousand gout sufferers. It will have to be excellent, as I have a passionate hate for shoddy ebooks.

It would be good if your three amazing skills include: caring for others; writing for people as humans, not marketing targets; and tolerating grumpy old men. A desire to run your own website to build continuing income from supporting the book would be nice too, but that is a job I’m prepared to do myself, if necessary. If you want to do it, I’ll help.

Keith.

P.S. Ann, please stop using wrongipedia as a source. “having more money” is not a goal. “spending more money that you earned doing something you enjoy” might be. [sorry – wrongipedia is my biggest and pettiest pet hate]

Keith, Someone actually read my ebook! What’s that line from “When Harry met Sally”?
“I’ve never had anyone quote me to me before”

As for grumpy old men, many of them are just teddybears in deep disguise…
